TURNING Veteran-Friendly organizations INTO VETERAN-READY EMPLOYERS.   LET US HELP YOU BUILD YOUR #TRIBE.

MILITARY 101 TRAINING

Every organization interested in supporting the military-connected community can start becoming "veteran-ready" by gaining a better understanding about basic military culture, learning about unique challenges veterans face in the workplace, and by discovering and engaging with their local military-connected network.

VETERAN RECRUITMENT

Gaining an in-depth understanding of military jargon is often just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to understanding a veteran's resume. We can help your team establish a process for triaging veteran's applications, and help you discover new and unique ways to attract more veterans and establish veteran talent pipelines.

VETERAN-READY WORKLIFE

Veterans have all of the intangible skills that great organizations look for, but can struggle to adapt in the workplace. Building out intentional space for military-connected employees can help organizations retain their top tier talent and maintain a diverse staff with unique experiences that drive results.

Justin Miller, Founder & Owner

Having served for nearly a decade in the US Army and deploying twice to Iraq, Mr. Miller separated from active duty service in January of 2011 and has been involved in the military-connected network in and around the Chicagoland area ever since.

Throughout his life post-service, Justin's career has developed from a position in large corporate America marketing to small non-profit executive leadership, working alongside executives, entry-level employees, and every level in-between; and through it all he has found his true calling as an entrepreneur, pursuing a career as a consultant, business owner, and non-profit leader focused on helping his fellow veterans navigate life after service.

These pursuits inspired the founding of Candor & Consideration, which has become a vehicle for him to share with others his expertise in helping organizations make a positive impact in the lives of the veterans they employ, they work with, and they impact.  Justin helped create the first professional veteran network in Chicago in 2017 and has been collaborating with military-ready corporate employers ever since, helping them engage with their local veteran communities and finding ways to make a positive impact in the lives of veterans and their families.

Justin's greatest pursuit in life, however, is navigating fatherhood and aspiring to be a better parent every day than the day before. He is a father of three and balances his time between his career and helping build Lego sets with his son, learning about space to keep up with his daughter's inquiring mind, and playing his guitar to inspire his oldest daughter to keep practicing her saxophone.

Justin's passion for serving his fellow veterans is second to his love of being a dad, and is immediately followed by his love of baseball. His favorite meetings are the ones conducted at the Friendly Confines, and if you ask him for advice, he'll tell you, "It's better to go out swinging than to watch opportunity pass you by while you're standing still."
